Hi, Southern Savings readers! We're Jessica and Heather of
Saving Money & Living Life! We are so honored that Tara is letting us blog swap with her today. Allow us to introduce ourselves, we blog about our lives as newlyweds (well, kind of, it's been almost 3 years now for Heather & about 3 1/2 for Jess), how to save money, frugal lifestyles & fun, recipes (
see Heather's colorful bean dip app), and being domestic (
see Jess's hutch re-do). We'd love for you to find us on
Facebook and follow along with us on our journey! Please stop by and leave a comment, we love to meet people and chat!
Enough about us though, we're here to talk about ways to get your family back around the dinner table. Does it happen more often than you would like to admit that you find yourself running home from work, trying to fit in a workout or time with your kids and then staring blankly into the fridge trying to figure out what’s for dinner? I know I used to find myself in that spot ALL the time. Then inevitably, we’d end up eating takeout, or a frozen pizza, fatty pasta etc.
Well, luckily
E-mealz comes to the rescue in situations like this! It is an online menu planning service that offers a menu plan for busy moms, newlyweds learning to cook & families. They have over 20 menu plans for a family ranging from 2-6 based on options that include low carb, low fat, point system, and vegetarian as well as different grocery stores and mass retailers. This way they can help families save money based on weekly sales at their chosen grocery store. It essentially takes care of the “What’s for dinner?” question quickly and cost effectively.
Even if you don’t know how to use coupons, just by having a meal plan on shopping based on what’s on sale, you’ll save lots of money & time with this plan! Since I am a couponer, I tend to spend even less money than they project because I shop my stockpile first. For instance, if there’s canned corn on the shopping list to go with one meal, and I have frozen broccoli on hand, I substitute that in. I also use coupons that I find in databases like Hot Coupon World to bring the price down as well. I also may decide that I don’t want to make one of the meals because my husband won’t like it and instead substitute in a family favorite or something we already have on hand that we can make for free or close to it.
Their goals are to provide
Delicious family friendly recipes
Ingredients bought on special and/or at the best price available
An easy and stress free home-cooked dinner
Precious moments with the most special people in your life
E-mealz is only $5 a month and keeps your dinner grocery budget for 2 people between $35-$45 for the week & between about $70-$80 for families of 4-6. But with the coupon code savemoney that you can use from us you’ll receive over 10% off your first purchase of a plan at
E-mealz, how great is that?!
If you have any questions about the program, feel free to ask. Have any of you tried it? If so, what did you think? I certainly wish that someone would’ve told me about
E-mealz when I had first gotten married, had no idea how to cook, no idea how to meal plan, and definitely no idea how to save money at the grocery store. In fact, this would make an INCREDIBLE cost effective wedding or shower gift!
